Airfield Management Block 3 Practice Test

Striated markings are a series of small parallel stripes across the runway surface, arranged in a repeating pattern. They are defined by stripes that are at least six inches wide with about four to six inches of space between them. This specific pattern creates a textured, high-contrast visual cue that helps pilots quickly gauge the runway surface and maintain proper alignment, especially in challenging visibility or lighting conditions. The description with multiple small stripes and the specified minimum width and spacing matches this marking type exactly. The other options describe different runway markings—one solid stripe along the centerline isn’t striated, large block patterns relate to taxiway edge markings, and markings that indicate approach lighting segments pertain to the lighting system rather than surface striations.
